In this 6 hour workshop we will create tonal values on a copper plate through the technique of aquatint, an intaglio process in which soft areas of tone are used to create shapes, rather than the more traditional line. We will look at the different effects of spray paint and rosin aquatints, and students will have the opportunity to learn and experiment with both methods. 4x6" copper plates can be purchased from the studio for $15, all other materials are included. This workshop is limited to four participants to ensure plenty of individualized instruction and press time. We'll break for lunch at noon, which can be brought from home or ordered from a nearby restaurant.
